Lyne Bessette

Lyne grew up in the eastern townships of Quebec. She was always very active and at the age of two her parents already had her on cross-country skis! She started long-distance running at the age of 10. Later, pending time between teaching downhill skiing and snowboarding, working at cafes and golf courses, she saved money to buy her first bicycle in 1996.

Lyne also attended University pursuing a degree in math and physics education. She realized quickly that it wasn't for her. With this realization, she fell in love with the sport of cycling and turned pro on the road in 1998. Now after almost 10 years of international level road racing, she has retired from the road scene and is pursuing cyclocross and Olympic track racing. Lyne is also involved with mentoring young women in sports thru Fit Spirit, and young cyclists through the Quebec Cycling Federation.
